Obituary of Wayne Roberts
ROBERTS, Gordon "Wayne" of Port Dover, passed away at Norfolk General Hospital on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Cherished husband of Sherry for 60 years. Loving father and father-in-law of Mark and Nicola Roberts of Port Dover, Cory and Sarah Roberts of Carlisle and Julie Roberts of Waterford. Proud grandfather of Emma, Megan, Leela and Tucker. Dear brother and brother-in-law of John and Sue Roberts of Port Dover and Marilyn Ivanovick of Cambridge. Will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews. Wayne leaves behind his loving fur baby and best friend Abby. Predeceased by his sister Joan Robinson and brother-in-law Rick Ivanovick. Wayne was the owner/operator of Roberts Auto Repair for many years, taking over for his dad Gordon. He was a very active community member of Port Dover. He was Past President of the Port Dover Lions Club, which he spent countless hours giving back to the community. Wayne served on the Port Dover Minor Hockey Executive and coached for many years. He enjoyed golf and boating. He was an active member of Grace United Church. In his retirement years he loved woodworking and was also a talented stain glass artisan. In keeping with Wayne's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family would like to thank the care and compassion from all the staff at the Norfolk General Hospital. Arrangements entrusted to THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME, Port Dover 519-583-1530. A Service to Celebrate Wayne's life will be held at Grace United Church, Chapman and St. George Sts. A Lions service will be held at 10 am followed by a time of visitation from 10:30 to noon and the service at noon, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. The service will be livestreamed at www.youtube.com/@gracewoodhousechurch. The Reverend Lynn Hamilton and The Reverend Kathyrn Vance officiating.
