Obituary of Joyce Walker

WALKER, Joyce (nee Townend) passed away at Norfolk General Hospital on April 7, 2025 in her 101st year.  Cherished mother and mother-in-law of Wayne and Lorraine Walker of Huntsville, Wendy Dawtrey of Simcoe, Dwight and Claire Walker of Embrun, and Kevin and Catherine Walker of Kitchener. Loving and proud grandmother of 8 and great-grandmother of 12.  Predeceased by her parents Sydney Townend and Annie Benner, former spouse William "Bill" Walker, son-in-law Bernard Dawtrey, siblings Ethel Rowbottom, Grace Leaney, Sydney Townend, Dorothy Anderson, Betty Hudson and Kenneth Townend. Joyce’s primary role in life was raising her family, although she did spend several years working in the Home Care field and at the Sprucedale Correctional Facility. Her love of laughter and use of old school idioms (which became her trademark), brought smiles to all who knew her. Her perseverance in life despite hurdles was her lesson to us all. Stubborn to the end, she loved to bowl and drive her car well into her 90’s. 
Family and friends are invited to share their memories of Joyce at visitation at THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME, 102 First Ave. Port Dover 519-583-1530 on Sunday, April 13, 2025 from 12:30 to 1:30, followed by the funeral service in the funeral home Chapel at 1:30.
