Obituary of Michael John McLeod

With heavy hearts, the family of Michael “Mike” John McLeod announce his passing on March 5, 2026, with his family by his side at Norview Lodge.

Michael was the loving partner and devoted husband of Bonnie for 59 precious years. He was a proud and loving father to Debbie (Thomas), Denise (Jamie), Marijean (Phil), and John (Orpah), and a cherished father-in-law to Peter. Michael’s family was the centre of his world, and he took great joy in the lives of his beloved grandchildren Simeon, Alexa, Alannah, Brandon, Jasmine, Ryland, Violet and adopted granddaughter Michelle. He will be dearly missed by his siblings Alan (Nadine), John (Anne), Bernadine (Calven), Janet, Marty (Heidi), and in-laws Ron (Carol), and Judy. Michael was an adored neighbour, cousin, uncle, great uncle and friend to many, and his kindness and presence will be greatly missed. Michael was predeceased by his parents John and Mary, his beloved daughter Dawn, his brother Anthony, and in-laws Jean and Joe Wright.

Michael spent his life working in the steelmaking industry, beginning at the age of 18 and continuing until he was 73. He worked as a Melter Foreman at Stelco, a career he truly enjoyed and took great pride in. Throughout the years, he formed many lifelong friendships through his work, something he valued deeply. An entrepreneur, Michael also operated a tree planting business and McLeod’s Action Wear, demonstrating his strong work ethic and determination throughout his life. In his younger years, Michael was a natural athlete who excelled at every sport he played. His competitive spirit and love of sports stayed with him throughout his life. The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Lane, Norview Lodge for their loving care, as well as the staff at Norfolk General Hospital.

The family invites you to join them at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519)583-1530 on Wednesday March 11, 2026 for Visitation at 2-4pm and 6-8pm.
