Obituary of Eric Edmond Styles

STYLES, Eric Edmond, born January 15, 1993, passed away March 14th 2026 leaving behind a family and community who loved him deeply. He was the beloved son of Nancy Styles (predeceased)and Brian Styles (Karen), and a cherished brother to Adam Styles (Brianne) and Tara Styles (Jason).

Eric was the proud father of Dedrick and Dominic, who meant the world to him. He was also a fun-loving and unforgettable “Gunkle” to Emmett, Tye, Maddie, Isla-May, and Cali. Eric was dearly loved by his many cousins, aunts, and uncles, and supported by special friends Derek and Charity.

Eric attended Port Dover Public School, Doverwood Public School, and Port Dover Composite School, later completing his high school diploma through the GELA program. Throughout his school years he was active in many sports, playing baseball, hockey, and lacrosse, and earning numerous ribbons in track and field.

Eric made a lasting impression on many people in his community. He had a light and spark that could brighten every room he entered. Known for his spunky, funky spirit, creative mind, kindness, and wisdom beyond his years, Eric brought energy and authenticity to everyone lucky enough to know him. He expressed himself through music, poems and drawings. He was an artist.

Throughout his life, Eric faced profound challenges with mental health and addiction. The loss of his beloved mother brought a depth of grief that weighed heavily on him. Even through the darkest moments, Eric fought his battles with remarkable courage and strength. He was a fighter, a warrior, and someone who carried life’s unfair burdens with resilience.

Eric will be remembered for his big heart, his humour, his creativity, and the unique light he brought into the lives of others. His memory will live on through his children, his family, his friends, and all who were touched by his spirit.

A celebration of life will be held at the Port Dover Community Centre, 801 St. George St. on April 11th from 1-4pm. We have printed copies of a poetry book Eric published in high school, they will be available for $20 each and proceeds will be donated to help support Eric’s children’s future and the local homeless community.
