Obituary of Bob Stoneman
Robert “Bob” Stoneman passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of memories cherished by his family and friends.
Beloved husband of 48 years to Susan, Bob was a devoted partner and best friend. He will be deeply missed by his children, Scott (Cathy), Kelli, Jack, Kim, and Katie, and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Sierra, Elliott, Jasper, and Poet. He is also survived by his brother Doug (Carolyn), sister Bonnie, sisters-in-law Jerri Beauchamp, Kimberley Verkuil and several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Wilfred and Marcia, and his brothers Barry and Jim.
Bob dedicated nearly 34 years of hard work to Stelco in Hamilton before enjoying a well-earned retirement. Outside of work, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid sports fan who rarely missed a game, especially when it came to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats or the Toronto Maple Leafs. He loved spending time on the boat fishing, puttering around the house, and taking great pride in his yard—where he could often be found tending to his lawn or working on projects. Bob built the family deck with his own hands and crafted a wooden backyard swing for Susan, where he could often be found napping on warm, sunny days. Bob never quite resisted the stray animals his children brought home. Though he tried not to get attached, they inevitably became his pets. The family cats would follow him faithfully around the yard like dogs, and his most recent companion, Junior, will surely miss their daily “conversations.”
Bob will be remembered for his quiet dedication to his family, his hardworking nature, and the warmth he showed in his own unique ways he will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who know him.
