Obituary of Lesley Christine Grace

It is with hearts heavy with sorrow the family of Lesley Grace announces her death on April 13, 2026 at Hamilton General Hospital due to complications following surgery. She was 79.

Lesley and Terry Grace recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Theirs was a partnership based on a shared joy of family, sailing, travelling and working and living together. They are survived by their three children, Lisa and Scott Marr, Allison Grace and Mark Vanderpost, and Chris Grace and Sonya Greenslade. They will be so missed by their grandchildren Reginald, Aidan, Elizabeth-Anne Marr, Charlie and Jack Grace and Stella and Vivienne Vanderpost and Emily Haines.

Lesley is also survived by her siblings Judi Peach (Denis), Rick and Judy Telfer, Rob Telfer (Yolanda), John Randall and Christine Telfer, Cathy Telfer, David Telfer, Donald Telfer and Monika Schaefer, Esme and Robert Hurst and Peggy Telfer (Lane). She will be remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is predeceased by her parents Richard and Mary Telfer, her daughter-in-law Teresa Grace and her nephew Alexander Hurst.

Lesley lived most of her life in Port Dover graduating from Port Dover Composite School. She worked for many years in local stores then in 1998 joined Terry in establishing Grace Instrumentation & Controls Ltd. She worked there for nearly 17 years as administrator and bookkeeper.

Anyone who had the great fortune of having Lesley in their life knew how deeply she loved her family, how much she delighted in telling a good story, and how fully she embraced life. She loved to cook, bake, read a great book, and travel the world with Terry by her side. She was selfless, always worrying about everyone else than about herself and she has inspired all of us to be better.

Lesley’s family ask that each of you take a moment to toast her gifts of kindness, laughter and love and, in turn, share that with all those closest to you.

The Grace Family invites you to join them at Thompson Waters Funeral Home 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519)583-1530 on Sunday April 19, 2026 for visitation from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral Service will be held on Monday April 20, 2026 at Grace United Church beginning at 11:00am. Live streaming of the Funeral Service is available at graceunitedportdover.org.   Interment to follow at Port Dover Cemetery.
