Obituary of Helen Colombus Mandryk
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Helen Colombus Mandryk on June 4, 2026, at Dover Cliffs Long Term Care, in her 101st year.
Helen will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her son Ron (Cindy) Mandryk and her daughter Rosemary Stickl, her stepchildren Don Colombus and family, Judy Ball and family and Wayne Colombus and family. She was a cherished grandmother to Cindy, David, Rachel, Gordon, Joshua and Jocob, and great-grandmother to Jessica, Brian, Ben, Noah, Aidia, Owen, Bronson, Harrison, Ryan, Ryder, Ryker, Rowan, Raina, Jessicaess, Ezekiel, Bethany. Helen also leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Bea and Chris, along with many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends across the country.
Helen was predeceased by her beloved first husband Gordon Mandryk, her cherished second husband Victor Colombus, her parents, John and Mary Gordy, her brothers, Bill and John, and her sisters, Anne, Nancy, and Lena.
Born in Alberta, Helen moved to Ontario at the age of 13. She spent much of her life working on the family farm, where her she learned strong work ethic and resilience. Helen joined Grace United Church in Port Dover in 1947. Deeply rooted in her community of Vittoria, Helen devoted countless hours to local organizations and causes that were close to her heart. She was an active member of the Ladies Lamport Seniors, the Women's Institute, the Vittoria Foundation, and the Horticultural Society. Her commitment to helping others extended beyond her hometown through her volunteer work at Norfolk General Hospital, her involvement with the Kinnettes, and the many hours she and her sister-in-law dedicated to volunteering at Campfire Circle in Waterford. Helen's life was defined by service, kindness, and a deep sense of community. Her legacy will live on in the family she cherished and the community she helped build.
The family invites you to join them on Tuesday June 9, 2026 for visitation at Thompson Waters Funeral Home 102 First Ave. Port Dover. (519)583-1530 between the hours of 2-4pm or 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday June 10, 2026 at Grace United Church, 18 Chapman St. W Port Dover beginning at 11:00am, Reverend Lynn Workman officiating. Interment to follow the service at Port Dover cemetery. For those wishing, donations can be made to Grace United Church or Norfolk General Hospital in memory of Helen.
