You were Uncle Andrew to me. My Godfather. The mischievous one with the twinkle in your eye. A caring, kind and oh so subtly funny man who knew the words to 'Rhiannon' and showed up for my daughter, Hannah's hockey games in Toronto. And I will always be grateful to you and Uncle Maynard for coming to be with Dad after Mom passed away - though picturing you standing on a chair to change a light bulb scared the heck out of me, as did your little driving jaunts (you 3 old men) to 'The Walmarts', as Dad called it.
I know there is a great sadness in your wonderful hometown. You will be so very missed by your large, loving and extended family - both near and far. But like David says, no doubt you have been reunited with your great family who passed before you and they, indeed are very fortunate to have you.
Love you always...
Cindy

Andy/Gump/Mouse:
He would answer to anyone of those names,
A husband, father, grand father, great grand father and friend. A private and giving person.
above all a devoted family man with a great dedication to his grand and great grand children, which at most times seemed to have their way with him with.
his nature with all relatives and friends was an open door policy, no matter how far you travelled or how close you lived there was always an open invitation. for over 35 years Gump and Delci extended their home
for Sunday sit down meals for their immediate family or anyone that came by unannounced, no one was ever turned away. Over 40 years of sit down christmas eve diners for all extended family and no matter how old you were, sometimes not exempt from having to sit on Santa's knee. needless to say you never left that house on a empty stomach no mater what occasion we were all gathered for. His love of his brothers , sisters, nieces and nephews and in laws stretched far and wide, from Colorado to California, from Parts east of Nanticoke, to Northern Ontario, west to London, Sarnia, Bayfield, Stratford and any back road he could take to be with family and friends.
His ability to yarn a good story whether fact or fiction amused us all, a trait that we are sure was learned from his beloved brother 6 stack Jack, when those two were together you never what to expect, it would have taken 3 of kind
to beat them. the tales and events of some of their lives are probably better discussed outside this institution. More importantly though the Mac Donald clan was all about family.
His Interest were many, he loved his life on and off the water, a commercial fisherman he was, that did not necessary mean he was proficient at angling, a lawn chair, a bell attached to his line to give him time to put down his beverage and snacks incase a mud cat came calling.
Bowling was a past time of his until he bowled that perfect game,(that he claims he threw the last ball behind his back) was over because he felt how can you ever do any better then that.
Hockey in his younger years as he told us many times that no one wanted to be the goalie as their was only one athletic support and the goalie had to wear it on the out side incase of a position change and stuffing sears catalogues in the socks for shin pad and of coarse that infamous play off game where some one got a break away and oops tripped over the blue.
learning archery, going to many hockey, baseball, soccer, ballet and any other sport that his grand and great and grand children participated in, he always came prepared with $5.00 bills.
From changing tires at the army camp, instructing young boys to survive in the wilderness, commercial fishing and piloting crew members on Lake Erie, he had a very diverse life.
We hope that you are now reunited with Square and Mary Jane, Alma,Jack, Margaret,George, William , Albert, Jack, Red, David G
Perhaps you all have created a new Port Dover somewhere out there, a place that is sure to be as exciting as the Port Dover you left behind.
Always remembered and never Forgotten.

I would like to share on behalf of myself, my brother Aaron and cousins Jesse and Cody, not one single story but our whole life story of such a kind, giving man in our lives and we are all very proud and thankful to call Gump our grandfather. We have been blessed to have our grandfather so long into our adult lives as well as my children Isaac and Aaliyah having the best great grandfather be so much a part of their lives. As the patriarch of our close knit family, his presence and wise cracking humour will be deeply missed. Grandpa was light hearted and witty and his sense of humour was with him till the end, even the nurses would be shaking their heads and laughing, with all his last breaths he still wanted to be the funny guy and put a smile on everyone's face. There is one spot that will forever be noticeably vacant, at the dinner table where our family has spent many, many hours together every Sunday dinner, every family birthday and any other reason we could come up with to share a meal and time together. Between his love for fishing and the lake, his family was so important to him and he loved being surrounded by his children, grand children and great grandchildren and till the very end of his life that is what we did, surrounded him with our love until we all meet again.
