Obituary of MARY SIMPSON

Simpson, Mary Ethel passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones Monday February 24, 2014 in her 104th year at Norfolk General Hospital. Mary is survived by her children Roger, Ken (Carrol), Mary Lou Vansickle all of Port Dover and Jean (Bob) Woolley of Simcoe. She is also survived by her grandchildren Dan (Andrea), Debbie and Don Simpson, Clayton (Leslie) and Chris (Tracey) Vansickle,Teresa (Nadim) Nasser, Shelley (Grant) Shuttleworth, Kendra Simpson (Jim) Barnes as well as numerous great-grand children and 1 great-great-grandchild. Predeceased by her husband Donald (1991), son Richard, sisters Pearl and Jean, brothers-in-law Fred Longland and Albert Mason, son-in-law Jim, daughter-in-law Marge and grand-daughter Melody. Mary led an active life, she loved to fish, hunt, snowshoe, and garden all with her husband Donald, played cards and the piano especially hymns, was active in the family business, a Sunday school teacher a member of the UCW and Grace United Church Port Dover and the Eastern Star Lynn River Chapter since 1959 where she has held the positions of Worthy Matron, Esther and many other positions. Having done all these things she was still fully engaged with her family, a life well lived. Friends are invited to meet with family to share their memories of Mary on Sunday March 2, 2014 from 2pm - 4pm and 7pm - 9pm at THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME 102 First Ave. Port Dover (519) - 583-1530. A service to Celebrate Mary's life will be held March 3, 2014 at 11am at Grace United Church corner of Chapman and St. George Sts. Reverend Frank Walker officiating.
