Obituary of GRANT CHAMBERS

CHAMBERS, Grant William, of Port Dover, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Norfolk General Hospital in his 77th year. Predeceased by his wife Val. Cherished father and father-in-law of Ric and Sally, Ron and Karen, and Trish and Ken Trinder all of Port Dover. Loved son of Jean Chambers. Dearest brother and brother-in-law of Marie Wilhelm and Fred Lavji of Petrolia, Suzanne and Paul Greenslade of Port Dover, Alice Chambers of Port Dover and Sandra Collins, of Port Dover. Proud grandfather of Robbie (Patti), Nicci, Christine (Jared), Bret (Julia), Casey (Danielle), Daryl (Ashley), Amie (Ray) and Corey. Predeceased by his father, Clayton and his brother, Ivan, brother and sister- in-law Donna & Ben Bezzo, and brother- in-law Albert Collins. Grant lived a full life; he was an avid fisherman, he was the owner of Grant's Quality Produce, played in the band Country Driftwoods, refereed Junior "A" Hockey, was a Councillor on the last town council of Port Dover. Past President of Port Dover Minor Hockey, member of the Harness Horseman's Association, a past member of Port Dover Lions Club, and was an avid baseball and hockey player and fan. He was also employed by Royal LePage Brown Realty for the last 35 years selling Real Estate, earning the life time achievement award. Friends are invited to meet with the family to share their memories of Grant on Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 1 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 9 pm at THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME, 102 First Ave., Port Dover 519-583-1530. A Funeral Service of Remembrance and Celebration will be held at Grace United Church (Chapman and St. George Sts) Port Dover, on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 11 am.
