Even though I only met Mrs. Roesch once, I felt like I knew her well by extension of her wonderful daughter Barbara. Barbara has been a friend and a mentor since I first met her over 20 years ago. I believe that much of Barbara's caring, personable and go-to, get-it-done nature must have been learnt from her mother.
I'll never forget hearing about Mrs. Roesch journey to come to Canada from Germany and how she and her husband re-made their lives and raised a wonderful family. I also learned what an amazing baker Mrs. Roesch was, as I was lucky to taste one of her batches that was brought to Ottawa. Happiness can be shared in a box!
God bless!
Christina Rose

Dear Terry and Family, Just wanted to let you know that you have our sympathy and condolences. I always remember your faithful trips on Friday the 13th to ensure that all was well with your mom in Dover. I have a few flowers you gave me from your mom's garden that have grown and flourished through the years. Your memories of your mom will sustain you through the years - just like those flowers. Take care, Terry, we are thinking of you. SIncerely, Sharon and Bill French

Dear Ron & Family, We were saddened to learn about the loss of your mom. She was a kind, strong, & courageous woman. We will always remember the story of her heroic swim to freedom, which allowed her to build a new life in Canada, & the opportunity to raise a wonderful family! We know how proud she was of all her children, & how she always warmly welcome their friends into her home. Frank remembers fondly, the times he spent playing hockey on "The Roesch's Rink", followed by a cup of hot chocolate while basking in the warmth of the woodstove in the basement dressing room. Gertraude was a wonderful hostess, & created a welcoming home & gathering place. She will always be especially remembered by us, as we decorate our Christmas tree with her handcrafted ornaments. We feel so lucky to have known your mom, she made us feel like we were family. Please know, that you are all in our thoughts at this sad time of loss. With Love, Frank & Lesley.

When Carla and I talked about your mother it was her smile that always come to mind. I mentioned your mother's passing to my mother and she still remembered her, I was actually surprised I think she only remembers her and Opal Kitchen. The good ones are hard to forget.
