Obituary of JOAN BARRETT

BARRETT, Joan Caroline (nee Sherk) of Port Dover, passed away suddenly on Friday February 13, 2015 at Norfolk General Hospital in her 90th year. Loving wife of Harry B Barrett. Dear mother of David and Penny (Barrett) Wamsley, Kerry Wamsley, stepdaughters Barbara (Michael) Hourigan and Elizabeth (Bruce) Milner stepson Toby (Cari) Barrett all of Port Dover and Hugh Barrett (Bob McKaskell) of Windsor. Proud grandmother of Jane (Jason), Sally (Dayne), Jeremy, Jonathan (Caroline), Shawn (Fern), Brett, Brittany (Chris), Will, Russell (Colleen), Leigh (Matt), Sandy (Jason), great-grandmother of Taylor, Jeremiah, Cheyenne, Lilah, August, Felix, Trent and Brock and great-great-grandmother of Scarlett. She will be fondly remembered by her sister Patricia Haggarty of London. Predeceased by her first husband John (Buck) Wamsley (1992), son Patrick (1960), grandson Jason (1989) and sister Eleanor Kelland. Joan has been a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church since 1946 holding positions in the Chancel Guild as Secretary Treasurer for a number of years. She taught Sunday school at Trinity Anglican Church Simcoe in 1943 and 1944 and was 1st Regent of Corrie Alexandria McCall Chapter I.O.D.E. Simcoe. Joan was an excellent seamstress, loved to knit and quilt. A Service of Celebration and Remembrance will be held in Joan's honour on Tuesday February 17, 2015 at 11am at St. Paul's Anglican Church corners of Market and St. George Sts. Port Dover. Father Kendall Reimer officiant. Arrangements have been entrusted to THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME 102 First Ave. Port Dover (519)-583-1530.
