I met Brian in 2003/2004 and have been grateful ever since for how much he taught me.
I spent one year in Canada as a Rotary exchange student and had the privilege of living with the Mayhews for the whole year.
I remember Brian as a very intelligent man with a refined sense of humor. When we spent time during the evenings watching TV, he would teach me about sports I knew little about, such as Ice Hockey and Football.
Brian's vocabulary was very rich and I often felt like I learned more English by talking to him than during my high school classes in Simcoe. After Canada I lived in other 6 different countries, and to this date I still remember things Brian told me which were valuable lessons. However, I was still too young or naive to understand some of them at the time. I guess the greatest teachers are like this: theirs words and lessons stick with us, and after we are no longer in contact with them, we keep on learning from the memories we have. I do remember Brian often and wanted to share I am thankful for those times we spent together.
With love,
Tiago (currently living in Regensburg, Germany)

Dear Bridgette: please accept our condolences, Brian was a great and kind son, husband, father and friend. Although it's been a while since I saw him, Jarri and our dog Molly would often stop to see him in the nursing home... it seemed to be a one sided conversation, but Jarri though that Brian knew him. Even though he is now released from his sickess...this is still a long and sad road you are travelling. Please know we keep you in prayer as you begin the journey of goodbye...thinking of you often.
