Obituary of Kelly Beattie
BEATTIE, Florence "Kelly" of Port Dover passed away on Thursday September 17, 2015 at Norfolk General Hospital in her 73rd year. Loving wife of Larry, dear mother of Caroline of Burlington, Stephanie of Port Dover and Timothy also of Port Dover. Devoted and loving grandmother "Grammy" of Aidan and Lennon. Kelly will be dearly remembered by her sister Violet (Ivor) Rush of Chatham, nieces Sharon (Glenn) Turnbull and Tracy Rush, and nephew Brad (Cindy) Rush. Predeceased by her mother Elizabeth "Lily" Ewing (1976). Kelly along with her mother immigrated to Canada from Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1958. Kelly graduated from a Health Care Aide Program and retired from the Port Dover Nursing Home after 23 years as a caregiver. Our mom was a most kind and gentle soul who thoroughly loved her family and grandchildren. She will not only be remembered for her own beautiful garden where she found peace, solace and tranquility, but also for gardens she lovingly created for family and friends. She will also be remembered for her love of music, animals, poetry, and her home country Ireland. Mom gave life to the Irish expression "when Irish eyes are smiling" and we will dearly miss the twinkle that was always in hers. In keeping with mom's wishes, we will be having a Celebration of Life for family and close friends on Monday 28th September, 2015 at THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME, 102 First Ave, Port Dover (519) 583-1530, visitation at 2 pm followed by the Memorial Service at 3 pm. The Reverend Paul Sherwood officiating. For those wishing, donations to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
