Obituary of Ronald Childs

CHILDS, Ron (Ronald) passed away on Friday February 5, 2016 at Norfolk General Hospital in his 83rd year. Dear husband of Judy, loving father of Terry (Wendy Morrison) of Gananoque, Nick (Carol) of Port Dover, Valya (Steve) Roberts of Hamilton and Jennie (Adrian) St. Martin of Constance Bay. Proud grandfather of Dylan, Sadie, Hayley, Mackenzie and Everett. Predeceased by parents William and Elsie. Brother in law and Uncle to Dorothy Johnson and her family in the UK. Ron spent his life in public service and social work; he initiated progressive policies in England and Canada throughout his extensive career. Ron loved soft serve vanilla ice cream and fish and chips. He enjoyed his hobbies of boating, wooden boat building, woodworking, golfing and photography. He was a former soccer player and a long time Stoke City soccer fan. Ron was known for his wit, love of a good political discussion, passionate about military history and music, loved to read a good book and embracing his boisterous family. A Celebration of Life in Ron's memory will be held on Sunday February 21st, 1 to 4pm at the Port Dover Legion in Port Dover.
