My most heartfelt condolences to all of Bill's family. I was very shocked and saddened to hear of Bill's passing. I met Bill more than 20 years ago when we sat together on an assessment review team for offender releases to St. Leonard's Halfway House. Bill brought such wisdom and candour to the entire process and his decisions were always with great thought and care for all those involved. I remember fondly Bill's great sense of humour and his gentle demeanour. His love of family was always evident and he was a man to be remembered with great honour and respect. Bill will be missed so very much by all who knew him but will forever have left an imprint on the hearts of those he crossed paths with. May you take comfort in knowing how fondly Bill is remembered.

So sorry Nancy to hear of Bill's untimely passing. Will always remember Bill as kind, caring, and a great cop. Remember fondly our time together 40 years ago in the Bahamas when we both were still green behind the ears. You, your family, and Peel Police will always remember Bill with great affection. I hope the friendship and love of family and all your friends help you through this very difficult time. Jim

I just read of your loss. Bill and I were classmates and friends a very long time ago. We used to go to the movies when they were about fifty cents admission. He was a great guy and, yes, had a dry sense of humour. I was just mentioning Bill to my (English) wife a few weeks ago, while reflecting on my youth, missing him. It's a strange coincidence that today I read about his passing. I was in Humbercrest P.S., and Runnymede Collegiate. My sincere condolences to Bill's family. I'll never forget Bill Whitlock.

Bill emigrated from England, I emigrated from Australia. We met at Humbercrest Public School. Two kids with "funny" accents destined to become friends. Fond memories of teen years at Runnymede C.I. where Bill played foot-ball. Although, contact was lost, his presence lingered. Time will help soften the pain of your loss, your happy memories will last forever, Simply, he was a super guy! Missed by many!

I was very lucky to have worked for Bill early in my career. His professional bearing and dedication to serving the community was clearly evident then and had a tremendous impact on myself and everyone on his team. He was always a gentleman and you knew you were working for someone who respected and valued all of those around him. He was one of the finest officers with the Peel Regional Police I ever knew and an even finer man. He will be missed but never forgotten.

I was saddened to learn of Bill's passing.
There are few as equally impressive, smart and grounded as Bill. It was by my good fortune that I came to know Bill when we worked together at Peel Police. I was always impressed by Bill's professionalism, and his genuine interest in the well-being of his colleagues. Anyone who had the chance to work with Bill will know as I do that he was a thoughtful and intelligent investigator who could always be relied upon to get the job done. Over and above his skills and his wealth of knowledge as an investigator Bill was simply a nice man....kind, generous and compassionate. It is that legacy that it etched into the minds of those that had the good fortune to work with him.

Dear Nancy: I want to express my sincere heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Bill was the first police officer that I met when I joined the Mississauga P.D. (1972) and he was a good friend and colleague. He had a dry wit, a rare combination of skills and had the ability to quickly assess a situation correctly. He was a man’s man but had a deep passion for both the people around him and his family. ‘Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.’ Anonymous – Bill has ended his watch honourably and he will be missed by all of us. May you have comfort and strength in your memories. Sandy & Kirby MacMillan

Dear Nancy and Family, Brenda and I are deeply saddened by Bill's passing. He was a true friend and we went way back to the old Mississauga PD . I have fond memories of 3 am coffee meets with Bill over cruiser doors but even fonder thoughts of his true friendship when we worked in CIB. He helped me over a "flat" spot in my career and I will never forget that. A true friend and a fine police officer. Rest easy. Gord and Brenda MacKinnon

I worked with Bill while he was in the Homicide Bureau with Peel Regional Police. We had a wonderful time working together. He was very caring and funloving. He did however, not have a good relationship with photocopiers that I would help him with when I could. I was very sad to hear of his passing. He will be very much missed.

Mike, you have large shoes to fill. I had the extreme pleasure of working with your father on a number of occasions while he was in homicide. Not only was Bill a great officer, he was a very special man. His calm and humorous demeanour always kept those around him on course and in stitches. I also had the opportunity to spend some time away from work with him and his kind and gentle way will always be remembered. I wish you and your family peace in these difficult times but I am sure you will find some solace in the knowledge that he was so well thought of. There are few in this world that people have nothing ill to say of and Bill Whitlock was one of them. God bless.

Nancy, my sincerest condolences to you and your family. As I am sure you are aware Bill was a great colleague to us at the old 11 Div CIB of PRPF and an admired Detective. His friendship, humour (albeit sometimes dry) and willingness to "jump in" on the tough ones to solve, are his legacy to us. He will be missed.
