Obituary of Charles Easson
EASSON, Charles Oliver McNeil on Sunday March 27, 2016, Rev. Father Charles (Buck) Oliver McNeil Easson passed away at age 79 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is lovingly remembered and survived by his wife of 52 years Gail Easson, and his children and their spouses Steven Easson (Wanda), and Lynn Easson-Irvine (Desmond); his 8 grandchildren: Cory, Rose-anna (Jay), Crystal (Donny), Steven (Stevie), Traviss, Troy (Sadie), Morgan and Shannon; his many great grandchildren; his brother John Easson, sister Jane Benson, brother-in-law Donald Benson and his many nieces and nephews, as well as friends and colleagues near and far. In the Heavenly Kingdom he has rejoined with many beloved relatives and friends but most notably his daughter Kelly and his parents John and Dorothy who would have been immensely proud of their youngest child who at the age of 68 was ordained into God's ministry as an Anglican Priest. Father Easson (Buck) found his calling after spending many years as an adult pursuing his education; his biggest regret having not finished his Master's degree due to his illness. Buck was a late bloomer; however his life was full of many adventures in his search for meaning, intellect and self-discovery, things for which he also fiercely encouraged in others. In his youth, he was a great athlete, with specific passions in track, hockey and football. Also in his youth, he volunteered on a mission boat out west (British Columbia), and was trained as a demolitions expert in the Canadian military. Not long after coming out of the army he met his wife then later with 3 kids in tow, he decided to try his hand at farming and spent many years raising and enjoying showing his dogs (Great Pyrenees). He started his education well into middle age and upon completion of his BA in Theology and his ordination as an Anglican Priest he went to Churchill Manitoba in the Diocese of Keewatin. That parish and the north held a special place in his heart always. Two of the most important things that Buck instilled in those close to his heart are: 1. the importance of family. 2. As a proud Canadian, he reminded us always that we are fortunate and blessed to live in this great country and that the opportunities to educate ourselves and pursue good deeds should never be wasted. Thank you to the Doctors and nurses at Juravinski and Norfolk General Hospitals. Thank you for everyone's kindness and prayers through Buck's illness and in his passing. A memorial Service will be held in Charles memory on Saturday April 2, 2016 at 11am at St. Cuthbert's Anglican Church 1541 Oakhill Dr. Oakville, ON. Rev. Canon Joe Asselin officiating. There will also be a Celebration of Life held at a later date, on Saturday April 16, 2016 at 2pm at Callahan's Beach House, 2 Walker St. Port Dover.
