FINNIGAN GERALD F. FINNIGAN, Gerald - surrounded by his wife and daughters at his home in Port Dover, Jerry passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, April 17, 2010 in his 65th year. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Colleen as well as his proudest accomplishments, his daughters: Barbara and her husband Andy Morris of Stoney Creek, Kim and her husband Brad Schott of Simcoe, and Sarah and her husband Matt Hall of Port Dover. Jerry was the adored and proud "Papa" of seven grandchildren: Annette, Rohan, and Isaiah; Clara and Haley; Owen and Samuel. He was the cherished son of Frances and the late Frederick Finnigan and the treasured big brother and brother-in-law of Brian and Karen Finnigan of London, John and Patti Finnigan of Oakville, Mary and Nick Thomson of Grimsby, Monica and Murray Elliott of St. Mary's and Bill and Lucia McCurdy of Toronto. Uncle Jerry will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews whom he loved so very much. Jerry was a Stelco employee for 35 years ending his career as supervisor in the electrical engineering department. Jerry loved to golf so much that after his retirement he began "a second career" at the Greens at Renton where he enjoyed many summer days on the course. He served his community as a dedicated member and past president of the Port Dover Lions Club for 18 years. He will be remembered by family and friends as a trusted advisor with a warm smile, sharp wit and kind heart. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm at THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME LTD., 102 First Ave., Port Dover, ON 519-583-1530. Lions service at 6:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at 11 am at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Lynn Park Rd., Port Dover. Celebrant Father Stephen Savel. Interment Port Dover Cemetery. For those wishing, donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre, Pancreatic Cancer Research would be greatly appreciated by the family.
