Obituary of Gordon Macaulay

MACAULAY, Gordon "Scrubby" of Port Dover, passed away at Norfolk General Hospital on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 in his 96th year. Cherished husband to Rose over 70 years. Loving father and father-in-law of Douglas and Linda of Alberta and Janis Pickard of Port Dover. Dearly loved grandfather of Brad and Stephanie Macaulay, Greg Macaulay and Brian and Jackie Pickard, great-grandfather of Cadence Macaulay and Eleanor and James Pickard. Dear brother of Jean Elliott, Donald "Fly" Macaulay, and John Macaulay all of Port Dover. Predeceased by his parents Daniel and Florence, son-in-law William Pickard, brother-in-law of Harold Elliott, sisters-in-law Doris and Diane Macaulay. Gordon was a net mender for the Commercial Fishing industry in Port Dover for most of his working career, he won numerous trophies for stringing nets during the Fisherman Weekends in Dover. He was a faithful member of Knox Presbyterian Church and served as Chairman of the Church Board in 1961 when the church was built. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, staff and residents at Dover Cliffs LTC. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions all services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME, Port Dover 519-583-1530.
