MATTHEWS, Margaret Eileen (nee Anderson)
It is with heavy hearts  and deep sadness we announce the passing of Margaret (Peggy) in her 93rd year at Dover Cliffs Nursing Home in Port Dover on August 12/21.  She was born on March 17th, 1929 in Bowmanville to Doris and Frank Anderson, both predeceased.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Pamela (Frank) Bravener, of Port Dover.
Proud and loving grandmother of Scott (Bonnie) Bravener, of Port Dover, Louanne ( John) Grubert  of Kitchener, Renee (Chris) Fontana of Oakville, great- grandmother of Chantelle, Nathan, Cason, Devon, Katherine and Madeline, great -great- grandmother of five and several nieces, nephews and extended Matthew families.
Predeceased by her loving husband Everett(2002), daughter Jacqueline Moore (2007) grandson Brent Moore (2020), brother Melvin (Joyce), brother Jack ( Louise), and sister Betty (Edward Chappell) and her faithful fur baby Rush.
Peggy was raised in Oshawa before moving to Port Dover in 1954. She had local jobs at Kolbes, Norfolk Knitters, Schilz Hardware before opening her own plant store "Plants and Things".  Her passion was plants and flowers she loved gardening and eventually retired to her own garden. Peggy loved to do her crossword puzzles daily. She loved to clip out spiritual poems that she came across and enjoyed her Sunday United Church visits. Most of all she enjoyed her Monday afternoon group of friends that had met for many years, remaining group Evelyn, Eleanor, and Cathy.  A number of years ago Peggy achieved the honour of runner-up status for the most lbs. lost in a year for Calorie Counters of Canada.
Special thanks to the staff at Dover Cliffs LTC, who were attentive and caring to Peggy these past few years.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Thompson Waters Funeral Home, Port Dover 519-583-1530. A Private Service will be held at a later date with Reverend Kathryn Vance officiating and interment at Port Dover Cemetery.
For those wishing, donations, in lieu of flowers, to the Port Dover Lions Club Botanical Gardens (tree planting program), or your favorite charity would be appreciated. Online donations and/or condolences can be made at www.thompsonwatersfuneralhome.ca
