Mrs. Hill, I don't think we ever met, but I did meet with Mr.Hill, Dick, The Boss. Every time the Blast Furnace went down, and I would be on shift, you would be sure "The Boss" would be there. I started at L.E.W. on March 05, 1979, just prior to the plant start up. A START UP that he, Dick Hill was responsible for. Only you will know the stress that he and you went through at that time.
I have the greatest admiration for "The Boss" and you, as it was and still is a great achievement. He did have some help within the plant, but he had to answer to all sorts of issues and pressures from outside the plant.
My condolences to you and the family. His last years in Long Term Care must have been tough on you all.

Dear Fran,
We are sending our sincere condolences to you and the entire family. We remember Dick from golfing at Norfolk! He was a great guy, lots of fun! It was a great privilege to have known Dick and have had the opportunity to curl with him. I have many fond memories of the times we spent together curling.

We wish to let you, Fran, and all of Dick's extended family know how very much Dick meant to all of us who played with him..
He was such a consummate friend both on and off the ice, and was the life of many a party at The Quebec Bonspiel. Our many hours of travel every year allowed frank exchanges, and I feel I know most of you quite well just from his sharing. While the past 7 years have been beyond difficult, he will already be planning another spiel 'up there' with so many of his friends who have already passed on.
In this difficult time, please remember that Dick was beloved by hundreds who lucked in to meet and know him well.
I will always consider Dick as a team-mate for life.
