Obituary of Doreen Boehnert

BOEHNERT Doreen (nee Murphy) of Port Dover, February 17, 1941 - April 17, 2022.  With deep sadness the family of Doreen announce her passing. Doreen leaves behind her loving partner of 30 + years, Bob Stephens, sons Mike (Elana Lloyd), Tim (Carolyn) and Stephen (Debbie). Grandchildren Keilyn Hayward (Jake), Jordan Shepherd (Megan Sharpe), Connor Boehnert (Zoe Johnston), Ashley McGrattan (Tyler) and Shae-Lynne Boehnert (Nolan Krisko). She will be forever missed by her great grandchildren Benneit and Lennon Hayward. Predeceased by her husband Herb (1983), parents Robert and Catherine, in-laws Edward and Helen, brother Lawrence, sisters Francis and Deloris and brothers-in-law, Ed, Andy, Tom and Roy. Doreen is incredibly missed by a large extended family. Mom was the ultimate lady. Pink, sparkles and hair scrunches. She never left the house without looking her best, even when "popping over" to clean her kids windows. She lived her life to the fullest, traveling to exotic places with Bob and recording everything on a map of the world hanging in her home. She was born in Sudbury and was raised on the family farm in Phelpston. She was anything but a farm girl. She left the farm and her 12 siblings for Mississauga where she met Herb, moving to Port Dover in 1979. After his passing she found her independence and strength, becoming a force to be reckoned with. Will power, grace and beauty rolled into one very dynamic package. Mom was an avid sports fan, from hockey (TML number 1 fan) to lacrosse and baseball. She loved attending her grandchildren's hockey games, she was their top cheerleader. She coached her boys and ran leagues, only retiring her second base position about 10 years ago. Friends are invited to share their memories of Doreen at visitation at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover 519-583-1530 on Thursday, April 21 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm. Parish prayers at 6:30 pm Thursday. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Lynn Park Rd. Port Dover on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 11 am. Father  Augustine Ogundele celebrant. Interment Port Dover Cemetery. For those wishing, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Norfolk General Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
