Armand was born and raised in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, attended university in Halifax and Toronto, and forged a career in child mental health at Izaak Walton Killam Children's Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Armand loved music and being out in nature. He was an avid fisherman and bird watcher. He also enjoyed playing bridge and other card games.
