Obituary of Colin Smith

SMITH, Colin Walsh (82), of Port Dover, ON passed peacefully on March 27, 2023 at Norfolk General Hospital with family at his side.

Colin was born December 9, 1940 to parents Ethel and Ernest Smith in Port Ryerse, ON. He married Karen Ann Evans on December 23, 1961 and had 3 children, Charlene, Carl and Colleen. Colin earned everyone's trust with his honesty and integrity in everything he did. He was an avid car guy with a photographic memory for the make and model of cars dating back to the 1930's. From his early days pumping gas at Shaver's Sunoco Gas Station, to selling cars at McMaster Pontiac Buick Cadillac, Rick McCall's and finally Town and Country Automotive Sales, Colin provided white-glove service, and the best deal possible to all his customers. When he wasn't selling cars, he gave his time to support the community as a member of the Simcoe Kinsmen Club, the Who Did It Club and the Port Dover Lion's Club.

Colin is survived by his wife Karen, children Charlene Smith (Ronald Haantjes), Carl Smith, Colleen Smith, grandson Geoff Pleli, great-grandsons Keith and Blake, brother-in-law Ronald Parker, brother Ross Smith (Vicky), sisters-in-law Dianne Telfer, Jane Kapel, Miriam McKenzie, Wendy Evans and an extended family of much loved cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ethel and Ernest Smith, brother Raymond Smith, sisters Gwynneth Rice and Eleanor Parker, and granddaughter Brooke Smith.

A funeral service will be held Friday, March 31, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Church in Port Dover with Reverend Kathryn Vance officiating.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Thompson Waters Funeral Home, Port Dover 519-583-1530.

Memorial donations may be made to Grace United Church in Port Dover or the Port Dover Lion's Club. On-line donations and or condolences can be made at www.thompsonwatersfuneralhome.com
