Obituary of Joe Greene
GREENE Robert "JOE" of Port Dover passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday May 26,2023 in his 78th year, after a short battle with cancer. Friend and soulmate of Sheila Greene of Port Dover. Dear father of Tagan (Jim) Lombardo of Port Dover and Raeanne Greene also of Port Dover. Dearly missed and Stepfather of Gregory Thompson (Amelia) of Brantford. Sadly missed by his siblings John (Estelle) of Springville, NY, Norman "Butch" of Ohsweken, Graham (Hillary) of Stratford, Lorne of Niagara Falls, Diane Burnham of St. Catharines, Corrine Hill of Brantford, Carol Hill of Ohsweken and Pam Miller of Ohsweken. Devoted Papa to Jayden, Jamie, Leecy, Louden, Sheila and several other grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Joe also leaves behind his cat Tony (Scruffy Baby) who he dearly loved. Will be missed by Sheila Greene's family, who he always felt loved by. Predeceased by his parents John and Lillian, Daughter Saleigh, stepson Jeffrey Thompson, sister-in-law Jean and brother-in-law Lyle Burnham. Joe was an active member of the community holding positions as President of the Port Dover Lions several times, District A2 Governor for International Lions and recipient of the Lions Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. He was a familiar face known around Dover and always willing to stop and chat. Joe loved playing golf, The Toronto Blue Jays, singing karaoke and at one time playing drums in a few bands. Joe was also a proud member of the Port Dover Legion and enjoyed the art of Pyrography. Arrangements entrusted toTHOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME 519-583-1530. A celebration of life for Joe will be held on Saturday, June 17 from 1-4pm at the Port Dover Legion. As Joe would say "TTFN, ta-ta for now".
