Bob and Vicki were neighbors for over 10 years and they were the best neighbors a girl could want. Bob reminded me I was the next in a long line of single ladies who lived in the house and he and Vicki went out of their way to help in all matter of ways. Including hosting a party for me just after I arrived so I could meet the other neighbors. Who does that? There are not words enough to pay tribute but to say he was one of the great ones.

To Vicki and Family,
We are deeply grieved with the passing of the “Borth” We extend our condolences with the passing of Bob. I have probably known Bob longer than most. I met Bob at Westdale C. I. some 65 years ago. Few can say that Bob and I had maintained a close and meaningful relationship with a high school buddy over all of those years.

I met Bob in the late 90s when Silver Lake Park was taking shape. I appreciated his support all the years the rowing club operated on Silver Lake. Bob was a real gentleman - a person I enjoyed talking with and knew to listen to.

Over the past forty years Gary and I have shared vacations, birthday and weddings celebrations, curling games and numerous dinner parties with Vicki and Bob and often alongside their wonderful family. Whenever asked, Bob would share his wisdom and passion for life openly and honestly. His calm disposition influenced many uncomfortable situations and without fail his laugh was infectious! Bob was one of the first Amigos we met at Bungalows Arroyo, Mexico, early Jan. 2003. Bob always had a wonderful smile and personality, and a good word for everyone. He brought HAPPY to the "Happy Hour".Every day at 4pm.

Marty and I are so sad about Bob. Our sincerest condolences to you Vickie, and your family. Bob was a major personality, a most important part of our lives in Mexico. He made the right decision to go to Bucerias this last year, because he knew that it was a priority to enjoy life and the warm weather. Bob was always kind and a great conversationalist, loving to tell stories. Like the one when he came down in the morning to find a complete stranger sleeping on his sofa! His seat at happy hour will be missed. I have several pics but will post the one of him on the beach with that crazy wooden chair that he made. I think our Bucerias buddies will remember that. He was always busy with some project, including especially those sausage tasting times. He new how to cook a pork roast and gave me my favourite recipe for hamburgers! Bob was a wonderful wonderful person and will be greatly missed by so many!

Oh, what a pang of sadness I felt in seeing Bob's face in the online obituary! He was such a lovely guy, up there in my mind among that cluster of real "Dover gentlemen" like Mr. Wells, Doc Hall, and others us townies always looked forward to running into or receiving a smile and a wave from...For Bob and me, those chance encounters happened in Silver Lake Park, where I walked my dogs every day for decades (still do, and I even pick up after them, which he appreciated!); his contributions to that "jewel of Port Dover," as he rightly called it, will be everlasting. My sympathies to the whole family. How fortunate you all were to be Bob's people...Take care.
