Obituary of ARCHIBALD MORRIS

MORRIS, ARCHIBALD "ARCHIE" MORRIS, Archibald "Archie" of Port Dover passed away on Monday, September 20, 2010 at Norfolk General Hospital in his 86th year. Beloved husband of 62 years to Georgina. Loving father and father-in-law of George and Donna of Port Dover, David of Port Dover and Joel and Sandra of London. Proud grandfather of five, Sam, Isaac, Blake, Trevor and Alicia. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Georgia and Ken Painter, Stan and Ione Morris, Rosemary Mitchell and Genevra and Colin Campbell. Predeceased by his parents, Sam and Frances, son, Sam, and brother-in-law Clarence. Archie was born and raised in Port Dover, he retired as President of the Port Dover Maple Leaf, where he had worked since he was 14 years old, excelling in printing and production of the newspaper. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces at 18 years old, he was a member of the 1st Hussars Tank Corps, serving overseas in Holland, Belguim and Germany. He was a Past Master of AF & AM Erie Lodge #149. Archie was a faithful member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, receiving the Bishops Award on November 7, 2004 at St. Paul's Cathedral in London, Ontario, he also served as Superintendent of Sunday School for 10 years. Archie will be remembered as the dedicated bell toller at the conclusion of funerals held at St. Paul's Anglican Church. He always remembered with fondness his trip in 1989 to the British Isles where he travelled on the Concorde and returned on the Queen Elizabeth II. Archie enjoyed gardening but his true life's passion was his family, which he loved and admired greatly. Family and friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, September 23, 2010 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm at THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME LTD., 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519) 583-1530. A Funeral Service to Celebrate Archie's life will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church (Market & St. George Sts.) Port Dover on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 11 am. The Reverend Father Kendall Reimer officiating. Interment Port Dover Cemetery.
