Obituary of Luke James Johnson

Lukey-Boy

April 21, 2016 – July 7, 2024

Luke James Johnson was an amazing boy. Never one to sit still, Luke played hockey, soccer, baseball, competed in trail races, bowled, arcaded, golfed, scootered, celebrated birthdays, went to parties, and became a celebrity in the town of Port Dover. Always a helper, learner, and competitor, he prepared meals in the kitchen, completed science experiments, took on anyone in a Beyblade battle and built advanced LEGO projects. He was usually wearing his Messi jersey and loved getting a “mini” steeped tea from Tim Hortons. At school, Luke was perhaps the best friend of all his classmates. He was simply beloved by all. Always up for an adventure, Luke traveled to Florida, Mexico, Disney World and cheered his heart out at Leafs, Raptors, Blue Jays, Ti-Cats, Knights, Pirates, and Sailors games. Most importantly, Luke grew and matured as a follower of Jesus. He prayed in great faith – believing God could do the impossible.  He talked to God honestly and prayed for the needs of others before his own. He prayed that God would save all the people in Port Dover and take them to heaven. Luke genuinely listened to Bible stories and engaged in family discussions about Jesus, the gospel and God’s will. For a whole year, Luke persisted in his request to be baptized in order to tell the whole world that he was a Christian. He was baptized by his dad at Port Dover beach in July, 2023.

Luke loved his family deeply. He was a loyal and adoring son to his mother, Jill, a fun and caring brother to his siblings, Hosanna & Pearce, and the most wonderful son to his dad, Dan. Luke enjoyed freezies from Great-Grandpa Clare Pearce & Marg, racing on the driveway at Grandpa & Grandma Jim & Heather Johnson’s house, and making slime with Pa & Ma Larry & Charlotte Heinrichs. Luke loved being with his aunts and uncles, Aaron & Holly, Benjamin & Courtney, Ben & Renee, Emma and Jed, and cousins, Charly, Lucy, Chloe, Everett, Wesley, Eden and Myles.
