Obituary of Jim Bodnar

BODNAR, James Emery of Simcoe passed away peacefully at Parklane Terrace, Paris, born in Montreal on October 29, 1936. Loving husband of Carolyn Bodnar (nee Ronald) for 65 years. Father of Charles Bodnar (Ruth Atkinson), adoring daughter Jamie Lynn Bodnar (Jerry), bonus son and buddy, Jerry Fitzgerald (Alexandra, Sammy and Luke). Lovingly remembered by his neices and nephews and sister-in-law Mary Landon. Predeceased by his parents Rose and Charles Bodnar of Hungary, and siblings Evelyn Tarr (John), and Joseph Bodnar. Jim grew up on a tobacco farm in Nixon until he was 18, then headed to Oakland California to train to become a deep-sea diver and underwater welder. Jim spent his working years as a pipeline welder in the U.S. and all over Ontario. He also had incredible skills turning old wood into something beautiful. Dad loved all animals and had a talent for giving new life to old buildings and was always willing to help out on Jerry and Jamie's farm. Jim spent the last two years at Parklane Terrace in Paris Ontario, where they (his girls) took excellent care of him and made him feel happy by treating him like he was one of their own. We can't thank them enough. A special thank you to Dr. Bill Wynveen and staff for many years of the best care. In keeping with Jim's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Arrangements have been entrusted to THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME, Port Dover, 519-583-1530. For those wishing, donations to the H/N Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated. On-line condolences and/or donations can be made at www.thompsonwatersfuneralhome.ca
