June Beverly Toye (nee Farmer)
Passed away on Feb. 8, 2015
Born Englehart; June 4, 1926
With family at her side she passed away at the Norfolk General Hospital in Simcoe Ontario. Succumbing to the complications of her long standing battle with leukemia. She was 88 years of age.
She was raised on the family farm East of Charlton and attended Charlton Consolidated School
and Englehart High School.
She married Stan Toye in June 1944 in Charlton at St. Paul's United Church
They moved to the small community of Island Falls for 5 years, where she ran the Post Office with her husband.
After moving to North Bay in the late 50's and early 60's she taught sewing and millinery classes at night school. Upon moving to Richmond Hill she completed night school for her RNA. She worked at the York Central Hospital in Richmond Hill, Misericordia Hosptial in Haileybury, and in Englehart as well. They returned to Charlton in the mid 60's where they built their home. During the next 30 years she served on the Charlton town council and was deeply involved with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 227 and The Women's Auxiliary; where she served terms as president of both Divisions. She was also involved as a member of the Women's Institute. She enjoyed her travels to Great Britain, Europe, Australia, and the United States.
In 2000 she moved to Port Dover with her daughter Wendy Lamb, and family, where she spent
many hours pursuing her passions of sewing, quilting, reading and her traveling as well.
Survived by daughter, Sandra (Garry) Sleeman of Melbourne, Australia, son Terry
(Jo-Anne) of Cochrane, Alberta and daughters Beverley (the late Bob) Ritchie, of Beaverton,
Ontario and Wendy (Steve) Lamb of Port Dover, Ont. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren,
and 13 great grandchildren.
She was pre-deceased by her parents Sam and Gladys Farmer (nee Staples), sister Colleen Clark, brother Calvin Farmer, her husband Stan Toye, son-in law Bob Ritchie, and her granddaughter Petrina Sleeman of Melbourne, Australia
Cremation has taken place per her wishes and her ashes to be buried in the family
plot in Charlton in the spring.
A lady of Grace and Beauty has left this world. The likes of which can never be replaced in our hearts.
